Family walks or more sporty hikes? Fancy a forest, a stroll alongside the lake, across open fields, up to an altitude lake or an alpine pasture?

Many marked routes are possible:

Favorites

  • The must: the walk on the edge of the ROC

From the Cathedral, it heads towards the gardens of the Archdiocese where three orientation tables help to locate and name the surrounding peaks. It follows, on the edge of the Roc, a panoramic path up to the ramparts fitted out to accommodate a footbridge that spans the moat. The route is spotted with panels dealing with the following themes: the origins of Embrun, geology, fauna and flora.

  • Under the Roc:

the embankment/dam road: this passage to the right bank of the Durance river prohibits access to vehicles (non-rights holders). To reach the left bank, a 52 m long footbridge accommodates pedestrians, people with reduced mobility and cyclists. A pedestrian and cyclist path on the left bank allows you to pass under the road bridge and continue the ride.

  • Along the water:

The pedestrian walk around the Plan d'Eau arouses one‘s desire to discover or rediscover, in complete safety this magnificent natural landscape between sky and water. Depending on the hours and the seasons, a vast color chart is offered to the viewer. Rest areas with picnic tables have been installed there as well.

For the more sporty, there are other hikes that lead up to:The Mont Guillaume, the Col de Trempa-Latz, the Tête de Chante-Perdrix, the Lac de Hivernet (a pretty little lake in the heart of the alpine pastures.)
