Durance River

The Durance, a forcible and unmitigated river is the creator of exciting sensations. It’s a favorite place for practicing all types of whitewater activities from mid April to All Saints' Day and it is aimed at beginners as well as more skilful athlets.

Known and recognized throughout Europe as the "Mecca of whitewater", the Durance can be travelled by raft, hydrospeed, kayak, airboat, and by giant paddle.

• Fishing

This powerful river full of fish, is also popular with fishermen.

Fishing can be done with a spoon (not sure about that !!!), with flies, with hardbait or with natural bait. People mainly fish for Brown trout and in mid-August, the large lake trout from Lake Serre-Ponçon travel back up the river and thus the search for the "biggest" fish is all the craze!
